Therapist
(Pronounced: Tray-shawn Stanley)
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you're balancing academic responsibilities, relationships, and the process of figuring out who you are becoming. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can talk openly about what you’re experiencing and build tools that help you navigate this stage of life with greater confidence and clarity.
Through Amira the Healing Space, I provide counseling services to SUNY Oneonta students who may be navigating stress, anxiety, identity development, relationship challenges, or life transitions. College is a time of growth and self-discovery, but it can also bring pressure and uncertainty. Therapy can offer a steady space where you can process your experiences and develop strategies that support your emotional well-being.
Students often seek support with:
• Anxiety and chronic stress
• Depression and mood-related challenges
• Trauma and post-traumatic responses
• ADHD and attention-related concerns
• Identity development and life transitions
• Relationship and communication challenges
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where growing up in a diverse and fast-paced community shaped my resilience, empathy, and appreciation for the many ways people experience and navigate life. These experiences influence the way I approach therapy today — with authenticity, compassion, and respect for each client’s unique story.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a concentration in Human Services from SUNY New Paltz and my Master of Social Work from the University of New England. I am currently preparing to sit for my LCSW examination as I continue advancing my clinical practice.
I am especially passionate about supporting college students and young adults who are navigating identity development and independence. Many individuals at this stage are exploring their values, managing expectations from family or society, and defining who they want to become. Therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to reflect on these experiences and build confidence in your own direction.
My clinical approach integrates several evidence-based methods, including:
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
• Trauma-Informed Care
• Motivational Interviewing
These approaches help clients strengthen self-awareness, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and develop practical coping strategies for managing stress and emotional challenges.
In sessions, I prioritize psychological safety, trust, and collaboration. I meet clients where they are and work together to develop meaningful goals while maintaining clear professional boundaries so that therapy feels both supportive and structured.
Clients often describe me as warm, calm, and easy to talk to. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences while also feeling empowered to grow and move forward.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places, both locally and internationally. Experiencing different environments reminds me of the value of curiosity, perspective, and continuous personal growth.
If you are navigating stress, trauma, identity questions, or life transitions during your college years, therapy can offer support as you work toward greater clarity and resilience.
